013 Paul R. Johnson: A Journey to Allyship: The Exploration of Self-Love and Racial Identity in Fostering Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Justice (DEIJ)

My amazing guest for today’s episode is Paul Johnson.

Paul Johnson is a status quo questioner, institutional barriers buster, aspiring ally who is passionate about developing white men into becoming more inclusive leaders.

He holds a Master's in Leadership, is a Gallup-Certified CliftonStrengths Coach, a Qualified Administrator in the Intercultural Development Inventory, and a YWCA Racial Justice Facilitator.

Paul is also the co-host of The Modern White Man, a podcast that explores the roles white men can play in diversity, inclusion, equity and justice work.

During our time together, Paul shares:

  • What being an aspiring ally means to him
  • His personal evolution from feeling guilt and shame to fostering self-love and self-acceptance
  • The importance of racial identity awareness in the continuous journey toward effective allyship
  • The complexities and intricacies of culture and racial identity as a white man engaged in DEIJ work
  • The critical role white men play in supporting the advancement of DEIJ work
  • How to support marginalized communities without imposing and/or overstepping

I hope this episode inspires you to reflect on your own journey, recognize the power and importance of allyship, and your role in creating an inclusive and equitable world.
